Recycling success

March 1999

So now you know what your neighbours are reading, and drinking. Jericho is one of the most successful areas for the new ‘green box’ recycling scheme. Together with part of Walton Manor and Kingston Road we are producing around 3.5 tonnes per week. So far there has been more newspaper than expected. Average weekly collection now amounts to 2,000 kg. of paper, 910 kg. of green glass, 220 kg. of clear glass, and 80 kg. of brown glass. There are also 130 kg. of cans and 140 kg. of textiles and shoes.
