From Tuesday 26th March 2019, the social enterprise Aspire Oxford, in conjunction with Councillor Susanna Pressel, will launch a new weekly minibus service from Jericho and Kingston Road into Oxford city centre. The service will run twice daily, every Tuesday. The morning service will be available to collect customers from Jericho and Kingston Road at 0840, dropping off outside County Hall, New Road in the city centre, at 0900. Customers can then get the return bus back from outside County Hall to Jericho and Kingston Road, leaving at 1200, or return on the later afternoon bus. The afternoon service will operate on the same pattern, collecting customers from Jericho and Kingston Road at 1220 and dropping off outside County Hall, at 1240. Customers can then get the return bus back from outside County Hall to Jericho and Kingston Road, leaving at 1345.
Aspire Chief Executive Paul Roberts says: “At the moment we are establishing the level of demand for this new service. Depending on demand, we hope to be able to collect
and return you to your home address to access the service, or if we do experience higher demand we will bring in regular stop points on the main streets in your area.”
“It is important to underline that this service is targeted towards residents who meet our Community Transport eligibility criteria; that is, elderly and immobile residents for whom other forms of public transport are inaccessible or unrealistic to use. You must hold a valid concessionary card to use this Aspire service and also meet our eligibility criteria, as set out in our membership pack. Without registering first, you cannot use the service. We are pleased however to offer the annual membership, free of charge, in the first year for this new service.”
If you would like to register your interest in using this new service and request a membership pack be delivered to you, call the Aspire office on 01865 819 995 and ask to speak to Tony Tinkham or Alex Cowie.
