Over-60s can eat for £5

The Old Bookbinders pub in Canal Street has kindly decided to launch a new service for the community. They are offering all Jericho residents over 60 a special lunch, consisting of a main course (from a wide range of choices) together with a cup of tea for £5. This offer will be available every Monday, starting on Monday 26th February. They will set up a special long table, people can sit together, if they wish. The kitchen will be open from 12 noon to 2.15 pm and you can order food at any time.

Jericho’s Alive and Kicking group also meets on Mondays, fortnightly at the community centre at 2.00 pm. So you could go there after lunch. On Mon 26th Feb there will be several short videos about Jericho in the past. On Mon 12th March there is an Easter craft workshop and on Mon 26th March a singalong. On Mon 9 April the group will discuss the book Double Decker – stories about life viewed from an Oxford bus route. Participants pay £1 each time, but there is free tea or coffee and biscuits or cake.

Monday 23rd April marks the final Alive and Kicking meeting organized by the wonderful Anne Mobbs of Cardigan Street. She set up the club and has been running it for the past five years. There will be special birthday celebration lunch at the Bookbinders that day to which all are welcome. It is hoped to to continue the club after 23rd April, but that depends on finding more people to help.
