For the past couple of years, residents of Jericho Street have been baffled by the early-morning arrival on top of their gateposts of up to half a dozen satsumas. Jim Wright says: "We thought it must be kids who don't like satsumas taking them out of their lunch boxes on the way to school, but it also happens during half-term." Opinion is divided has to how to respond. "We don't eat them," says Barbara Wright, "since you never know what might be inside. But one of our neighbours regularly collects and eats them all, and he still seems to be OK." Jericho residents are more used to seeing food, such as milk or egg deliveries, disappearing from their doorsteps, so it is good to welcome such generosity.
