Save Port Meadow protest song

'There's no justification for this harm'

Posted - February 02, 2015 A new Save Port Meadow' protest song has been written and recorded in Jericho. The recording features 16 vocalists- all local Oxford singers and musicians who happily gave their time and talent for free because they all care passionately about Port Meadow and, like many others, are horrified by the damage that has been done by the construction of those awful buildings. The singers and musicians on the recording are: Mick Clack, Paul Gibbon, Victoria Bignet, Sarah Reeve, Ania Rybacka, Johnny Hinkes, Bronwyn Leonard, Sophie McNally, Charley Clack, Milo Clack, Waz Hylton-Brare, Susan Scott, Rajo Taylor-Smith, Lee Timermanis, Denise Eustace, Daniel Liggins and Hillary Lette. The song can be heard now online JUST CLICK HERE LYRICS: Save Port Meadow from Oxford University They've destroyed the views of the dreaming spires For you and for me Now we won't rest until they chop At least two storeys off the top Shame on you O.C.C. For this Castle Mill prison block Let's restore the beauty and the charm There is no justification for this harm Save Port Meadow from Oxford University What the hell were they thinking On the planning committee 'cause no amount of mitigation Can hide this abomination This vile monstrosity Proves that they're not trustworthy Now thousands voice their indignation There is no justification for this harm No soil test for contamination Lack of public consultation No apology for this hideous view There's only one thing we can do... We gotta save Port Meadow from Oxford University They've destroyed the views of the dreaming spires For you and for me Now we won't rest until they chop At least two storeys off the top Shame on you O.C.C. For this Castle Mill prison block Restore the beauty and the charm There is no justification No justification for this harm Lyrics and music © 2013 Mick Clack
