Faulkners plans

Objection to workshop

October 1981

What is so special about Faulkners that they are allowed to expand their business in Jericho when other industries have been restricted or forced out ? Why them and no one else? They are just as noisy right under the windows of Grantham House and next door to the school.

Yet in spite of having two applications for new buildings turned down by the City Planning Committee they have got what they want from the Dept.of the Environment. Look we've nothing against a business expanding. More power to their elbow but they are getting to a size which is too big for the neighbourhood. Let them go out to one of the industrial estates where they can get all the accommodation they need and expand as far and fast as they like without taking up residential space, in a residential area, and without upsetting the people who live there.

We know they have at least five and possibly more storage places in Jericho. Now they want to build a new workshop at the top of Jericho Street, close King Street and take 2 metres off the recreation area to make a footpath. There are going to be public meetings about this in the future so stand by to make your voices heard if you want to keep the children's last bit of playground, what's left of it, and stop motor cycles all over the place.
