St Paul’s Arts Centre

February 1981

St. Paul's has presented a very 'shut' look to Jericho in the last few months so you will be glad to know that the idea has not fallen flat. Work will be starting again when the weather improves.

Over £115,000 has been raised towards the target of £200,000 and about £40,000 is needed to open the place. A date for that may be announced fairly soon.

What's been done?

  • The drainage for the new toilets and the foundations for the new walls and partitions laid.
  • The two vestries are being converted into dressing rooms with showers.
  • The bar, box office and administrative area, are being built under the balcony.
  • The exit doors have still to be cut and the lighting put in.

The next stage of work will cope with the cleaning of the glass, block laying and making the exits. What is wanted is a prefabricated garage or hut to serve as a store. Anyone know of one going cheap?

Volunteers still wanted. Leave your name and phone number with the Appeals Office, Oxford 45588, and they will contact you.
