The walls of Jericho

The film was made by Martin Lipson and Joe Gualtieri in 2003 for Artweeks, both having then recently completed a video-making course at Oxford Film and Video Makers (now called Film Oxford).

It showcases a number of artists working in various mediums in and around Jericho at the time.

The history of the Phoenix?

There has been a cinema here since 1913. Orginally it the 'North Oxford Kinema', since when it has passed through many hands and names, including the Scala, the New Scala, the Studios 1 and 2, Studio X (a club showing soft porn) and finally in 1977 the Phoenix.

What kind of households we have?

According the to 2011 Census, almost half of Jericho households – 46% – consisted of only one person, 24% consisted of couples with or without children, 7% were student households, and 11% were other multi-person households, while 6% were single-parent households.
