Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest classical dance forms of India, with a history spanning over 2,000 years. Originating in Tamil Nadu, this art form seamlessly blends movement, expression, and rhythm into a unique practice that nurtures both body and mind. Known for its grace and precision, Bharatanatyam is a comprehensive dance style that integrates key elements for a holistic experience.
Where the community centre came from?
The centre was built at the end of the 19th century as the Church Institute for St. Barnabas.
Cranham Street used to be a blot on the city
Before Grantham House was built, the site became notoriously derelict, making Cranham Street according to the local press a ‘blot on the city’ – wrecked by local children, and a refuge for rats and for ‘layabouts sleeping off the drink’ who were repeatedly evicted by the police.
