Parents will be pleased (but probably not surprised) to know that St. Barnabas First School received a glowing testimonial from the Ofsted inspector. 'The headteacher, staff and governers work very hard as a team and are committed and successful in providing a warm, happy, calm and stimulating learning environment for all children'. Teaching was judged satisfactory or better in 93 per cent of lessons. By the end of Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum, attainment was above national expectations in English, mathematics, art, geography, history and music. And by the time pupils leave, around 40 per cent achieve higher than average standards in mathematics. Pupils' attendance and behaviour were found good and there were strong links with parents and the community. 'In the light of the standards achieved and the good progress made by the pupils, St. Barnabas First School is providing good value for money'.
