Greening Jericho is a a regular group of about a dozen people who do gardening work at least once a week in various places around Jericho.

One of the group's principal activities recently has been the planting of Mount Place which has now been recognized with the 2021 Landscape and Public Realm award from the Oxford Preservation Trust.  Other awards went to some of the most prestigious new college buildings.

In 2020 the City repaved Mount Place with York stone. Greening Jericho worked closely with the City on the layout and planting and have since carried out all the gardening work -- with wonderful results that are there for everyone to see.

Sue Hughes of Greening Jericho says: "It was an unexpected surprise and a boost to our future garden plans.  It feels great to be recognised for all the hard work we've been doing.   Greening Jericho has grown in the last year and this no doubt will continue.   It's not all about gardening,  we play boule, have tea together, celebrate Birthdays and spontaneous gatherings.  A community where everyone is welcome".

Funding  has come from the City Council who recently awarded the group a grant from the Green Neighbourhood Scheme for additional tools, plants and compost.
