North Oxford Children's Centre in Cutteslowe

Jericho families could lose valuable service

Posted - October 14, 2015
Over the years quite a few Jericho families have been able to benefit from their nearest children’s centre – the North Oxford Children’s Centre in Cutteslowe. Parents who may have been having difficulties have been able to take their children to the centre which is fairly easy to reach on the number 17 bus Faced with losing about 50% of the money it gets from the government, the County Council is now aiming to save at least £6 million from the £16 million annual cost of the county's 44 children’s centres. This will probably mean that instead of just being able to drop into their nearest centre, families would have to be referred to a centre - a very different situation which could mean that vulnerable families would not get the help they need. The County Council has just launched a consultation on their proposals. If you are concerned about this issue you can complete an online questionnaire on the County Council website by clicking HERE. For more information you can also contact our County Councillor Susanna Pressel - susanna.pressel@oxfordshire.gov.uk, or 01865 554001.
