Community fridges are a good way of stopping good food ending up in the bin. Surplus perishable food can be provided by local people or businesses and is then freely available for collection by anyone who who might be struggling for food, for whatever reason.
St Barnabas now has a community fridge available in the Church.
You can collect or donate food at any of the above times, and also on Sundays before and after services.
You can donate in two ways: buy something extra when you are shopping and give it to the fridge, or check at home if there is anything that you don’t want. The food should still be fresh and before its ‘use-by’ date - and in a sealed plastic container or bag that will not be returned. You can also leave non-perishable dry foods and tins.
For more details on the scheme, and what is acceptable, you can check on this page of the Church’s website
