Pub news

Welcome to Julia Sleeper and Irene Priestly at Nellies, and to Tim and Diane Holt at David Mallows in Walton Street.

Belated birthday greetings to Mini-bus driver, Norman Morris (Oct.31st).

Brian Nutt is doing well as landlord of the Old London Road pub at Benson.

Good news that Nigel and Jayne Bulpin, late of the Crown, are staying in Jericho and have moved into a house in Canal Street. The Crown is for sale.

On Tuesday 22nd Nov. I attended the unveiling and blessing of the new sign at the Bookbinders . Afterwards the 40 guests, including Col. Morrell, enjoyed a delicious buffet (prepared by Sue) and free drinks courtesy of Morrells Brewery. The sign was painted by Mr Irwin Welch of Long Crendon, and the design is based on a German medieval bookbinders sign.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs R. Woodward of Combe Road who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary earlier this year. Congratulations also to Bob and Ann Moore at the Radcliffe Arms for getting planning permission to build an air-conditioned, sound-proofed extension to the pub. Not only will this give their customers some much needed elbow room, but will also hopefully give some much needed peace and quiet to those neighbours who do not share their taste in music!.
