Trial of new service to the city centre

Posted - May 31, 2016
It looked as though Jericho's vital bus No 17 service would shortly be discontinued as a result of the removal of the County Council subsidy. Now, however, Thames Travel has come up with another option. Starting on July 24 Jericho will receive a town service on Mondays to Fridays at off-peak times linking it with Oxford every 30 minutes from 0930 to 1530, with a gap in the middle of the day for the driver to take a break. However, it would not go to Cutteslow, only as far as St Margaret's Road. This service would be provided with a vehicle that is used on another service at peak time. The new Jericho service will be trialled for six months to see if it is commercially sustainable. This will be on a 'use it or lose it basis'. Unless it is viable, it will not be retained.
