Planning applications

Posted - April 05, 1985

Things must be improving if the number of planning applications are anything to go by, for the last few months have brought a number of new ones. Such as the Walton Ale Stores which is to be demolished and replaced by a new shop with flats above. T

The old Co-op butchery is to be re-opened under a new owner. There is an application to convert. 118 Walton Street - the junk shop opposite the cinema - into a restaurant, but that has been squashed.

We have been in touch with South Midland over the Minibus service and more vehicles are being put on. We are also arranging a Public Meeting with the police on Tuesday, 16th April 1985 when a Crime Prevention Officer will answer your questions and you can meet your local bobby, P.C. Morgan.

We shall be having a stall at the May Day Fete too. Jericho Residents' Parking Scheme At present spaces are reserved for a full 24 hours in central and east zones. Proposals to extend to all other zones will be advertised shortly and the public will be invited to comment. All car-owning residents are entitled to a permit, which should be renewed in March. Those applying for the first time should take their log book to the City Engineer's Department at the Town Hall. Non-ratepayers should take some identification and proof of address (this prevents cheating).
