We’ve done it!

We've done it! Thanks to Sarah Strawson, Ritchie Russell House, Susan Taylor, re-cycled paper and Mrs. Rush, in that order, the Jericho Echo, formerly the Jericho News Letter, is back in circulation - with a free copy for everyone first time round. It doesn't look as professional as it did, but with costs going up every issue, we just could not afford to keep going in that style. To give you the figures: - in 1974 500 copies cost £12 to produce (about 2.5p a copy) - in 1977 300 copies cost £30 to produce (10p a copy)

Since then we have been looking for ways of saving but could not find any until Sarah came up with the idea of asking Ritchie Russell House. The disabled patients there are willing to cyclostyle the Echo free if we will give them any donation we can afford. This was grand. Then Susan appeared, ready to type the copy, and she suggested re-cycled paper. Another big cut in costs. Now Mrs. Rush has joined us to make sure we get the news. So a big THANK YOU to everyone: to Ritchie Russell House and Judy Cowley who is organising the cyclostyling, to Sarah for her ideas and for acting as liaison, to Susan for typing and getting paper, and to Mrs. Rush for being our social reporter.

Jan Needle will continue to cope with the cash and distribution. We hope too that some of our readers will respond to the appeal by the Friends of Ritchie Russell House (see inside) and do not feel that because they do not have a car there is nothing they can do to help. Some of the voluntary drivers might welcome assistance in the form of subscriptions towards paying for petrol. Now all we need is articles, letters, notices and news to fill our pages - from readers!
