Jericho 200 Photographic Portraits

Your chance to suggest someone for a memorable portrait

Last year, the Jericho Living Heritage Trust asked residents to suggest ways to mark 200 years of our distinctive, vibrant, and culturally rich neighbourhood. From a wide range of ideas, the Trustees decided to commission renowned local photographer, Fran Monks (https://www.franmonks.com/), to take portraits of people whose contribution to the community has been significant and sustained. This could mean, for instance, people who have instigated or maintained improvements to the built or natural environment, to social activities, to community wellbeing or morale, or to some other aspect of Jericho dear to your heart. The images and text are intended to provide both present and future residents with a rounded insight into what made Jericho special when it turned 200.

Please write to j200photos@jlht.org with all the information below, no later than 31 March. We need to know the following:
• The candidate’s full name and email
(you must have obtained their willingness to be put forward)
• Your name and email address
• Reason for nomination (200 words maximum)

The JLHT Trustees and committee members of Jericho Community Association will then consider all your proposals, selecting a shortlist of those to be photographed. The intention is to complete the project by the autumn, to hold an exhibition, and to feature the portraits, in perpetuity, on the JLHT website.

Those selected will then be contacted by Fran Monks who will include, alongside the portrait, a short biography as a caption for public display.

Funds for this initiative came from the Jericho 200 ‘In Conversation’ event last November between Sir Philip Pullman and James Naughtie, to whom we are most grateful.

You have until 31 March. Please don’t miss this once-in-200-years opportunity!
