Jericho Tavern

New managers

Welcome to Jericho Dave and Dorothy at the Jericho Tavern on Walton Street - they came as relief managers and decided they'd like to stay. It's great to have a live music venue in Jericho, and there has been a variety of musical styles recently including Indian, folk/rock and reggae. On Monday night it's the Avocado Club. The regulars are the Caravelles and the Avocados, plus at least two other groups. All different styles, perfect showcase for up and coming bands and acts. New acts welcome. Membership is £1.50 including admission, 75p thereafter for members. Starts 8.30-ish. Thursday night is the Mad Hatter's Club, which has new acts every week (see posters for details). Membership is 10p and entrance fee depends on which bands are playing, but they try to keep it as cheap as they can so it's usually about f1. On Friday and Saturday bands hire the rooms themselves, so check it out. There is a bar upstairs where the music is, and the atmosphere is relaxed and informal.

Compulsory purchase now a powerful threat
Oxford City Council has voted for decisive action on the Jericho Wharf site. The Council will now seek out a development partner with whom they can work to ensure progress on the site.
