Diamond pairing

Jack and Phyllis Webster

Webster anniversary

July 2000

On June 22 Jack and Phyllis Webster of Great Clarendon Street celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary. When they were married in 1940, Jack had only a few days leave from the army to come back to Oxford, propose to Phyllis Carr, and arrange with Father Bisdee to be married in St Barnabas. Phyllis and her brothers all had a close association with the church - the boys served at the altar or sang in the choir. At that point the family home was also in Great Clarendon Street, though in a different house. We wish them all the best.
