JERICHO ECHO ARTICLE
June 1986
There is a group in Jericho interested in keeping the local co-op shop in Walton Street open for as long as possible in the face of the co-op's increasing policy of running down their smaller shops. In order to do this we are trying to increase the quality and range of goods in the shop so as to increase the number of customers. The shop no longer shuts during the lunch hours and opens at 8.30. There are stocks of fruit juices at the very competitive price of 43p a litre, and the tinned tomatoes are a good buy at i6p for a 15dz tin. The local Oxford and Swindon Co- operative Society have decided not to trade with South Africa(long before all this recent trouble)so it is worthwhile supporting them and if the shop doesn't stock what you want come to a meeting at the Community Centre in Canal St.
