Kiki lines up the plants for the afternoon's customers
Thank you everyone for coming to the second Rewild Jericho charity plant sale on Sunday. You helped raised a whopping £562.00, as well as £374.30 at last month’s sale!! Our first introduction of organic biochar was a success, so we’ll be providing more in our next monthly plant sales. One resident responded to our Bloomin’ Marvellous Jericho theme with the brilliant idea of bringing an old bike to convert as a window plant. Matt scooped in the compost and biochar, and the rest of us helped gather the plants to pop in. Thanks to Peter Stalker of the JCA for taking the loveliest photographs. And to our fab resident volunteers Kajsa, Stephanie, Rachel and Alessandra who made the day so successful.
As always, all proceeds go to our chosen charity, Charterville Care, who provide specialist trauma care. One of their teams run a fantastic horticultural therapy garden centre in Cutteslowe Park, including a tropical aviary that even has rescued Amazonian parrots and turtles. Do pop up there in you’d like a fun day out or need more plants.
We’re already organising the next June plant sale (they’ll be every month), so stay tuned for the next update via the JCA’s emails and website. And if you’d like to join us on Facebook for lots of gardening activities, food and wildlife related chit-chat and check out our little website for lots of ideas you can participate in.
And finally, we’ve been having fun collaborating with the Museum of Oxford!
By the way, Peter kindly showed us a 2013 story on Jericho's gardens by Christine Cowham on Jericho Online.
Matt fills up the bicycle window box. Watch out for it in Canal street (below).
